Acoustic Enclosure Reduces Overall Noise by 20 dB
Objective: To Reduce the Noise Being Produced by the Dust Collector
The client required a solution to reduce the excessive noise being emitted by its rooftop dust collection equipment. With Soft dB's decades of knowledge and experience, a proposal was presented to our client to include the recommendation of implementing a complete acoustic enclosure; a flexible covering encasing the fan and ducts of the offending dust collector.
Methodology: measuring session, analysis and recommendations
- Targeted measurements of dust collector sound intensity and pressure.
- Detailed characterization of the various parts of the equipment.
- Evaluation, quantification and optimization of acoustic treatment recommendations.
Solution: Soft dB’s Custom-Designed Acoustic Enclosure
To achieve the client's objective, Soft dB designed (and installed) a custom-designed acoustic enclosure for the fan, complete with flexible coverings for the inlet and outlet ducts of the equipment.
Several accommodations were taken into account for the design specifications:
- Accessibility for maintenance requirements
- Silenced ventilation, while ensuring adequate air circulation to prevent overheating of the mechanical equipment
Results: Overall Sound Reduction of 20 dB from the Acoustic Enclosure
Analysis from conducting post-implementation noise assessments, reported an astounding 20 dB noise reduction after installing Soft dB’s custom-designed acoustical enclosure, thereby achieving the clients objective, with success.
